INFORM will be equipping Hermes Logistik Gruppe’s new handling centre, which is currently under construction in Langenhagen near Hannover, with SyncroTESS. When the centre will be taken into operation in December 2010, Hermes will coordinate the entire yard logistics processes of the so-called North Hub with the transport management system SyncroTESS. Following the West Hub in Hückelhoven and the Central Hub which opened in Friedewald in 2009, the North Hub in Langenhagen is the third site in which Hermes is to manage their yard logistics with the INFORM software.
SyncroTESS is to organise the entire entry and departure processes of the swap bodies carrying parcels on the 80,000m² premises of the hub. In order to do this, the software coordinates the arrival and departure of 200 HGVs every day, optimizes the occupancy of the 106 loading docks and manages 250 swap body storing positions within the yard. Shorter processing times, a balanced use of available resources and a high adherence to schedules will support the 150 future employees in making sure that up to 40 million deliveries per annum find their way to their customers in good time.
Once the project has been completed at the new North Hub, INFORM and Hermes wish to continue their successful collaboration: Following the modernization of the control systems at the parcel centres in Hückelhoven, Friedewald and Langenhagen, the company sites at Haldensleben and Altenkunstadt are also to be equipped with SyncroTESS.
