A successful partnership over two decades

The software SyncroTESS has been used for transport management at ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG for over 20 years – With a system upgrade, INFORM and ThyssenKrupp continue working together successfully.

For over 20 years the transport management system SyncroTESS has managed both on-site transport and transport between plants, at Duisburg, Dortmund and Bochum. Following an upgrade to the newest version of the system, both partners are able to continue their thriving business relationship.

“With the help of the upgrade, our site managers in particular are able to organise their work more efficiently”, explains Walter Hessmann, project manager at ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe. “The automatic recognition of forwarding times from external sites, the possibility to automatically call up  more than 800 routine tasks from the system and the improvement of statistics - all make our site managers’ day to day work easier”.

The system changeover went without any hitches. “We ourselves would never have imagined that the installation of the upgrade would run so smoothly. Thanks to excellent teamwork with INFORM, our site managers were well taught and so were very familiar with the improvements in the system and could continue working without any problems”, continues Hessmann.  

In addition, the system changeover was accompanied by a technological innovation. So, SyncroTESS is no longer linked to an analogue trunked radio like before, but to a digital TETRA trunked radio. However, the changeover of the radio connection is still incomplete, so at the moment ThyssenKrupp are still using the two radio connections side by side in order to guarantee the optimum transition.
