In the future MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH is to manage all transports at their two plants in Friedrichshafen using INFORM’s transport management system SyncroTESS. After a successful start of the project in July this year, the software is ready to use at the beginning of 2010. In the future, the system will manage up to 50 fork-lift trucks, tractors and trucks. For the assignment of transport orders and their confirmation, a bi-directional interface will be implemented into the existing SAP system.
One special feature of the system is the off-line capability of the RDT. As the plants do not have full wireless internet coverage, the RDT has been broadened so that transport orders can also be carried out in areas that are out of range. In this case, drivers automatically receive a job list to be carried out from the system before they enter such an area. When they have completed these jobs, the drivers go back to an area within range of the signal, where they can retrieve data on their next tasks.
MTU is a subsidiary of Tognum Group and belongs to the leading manufacturers worldwide of large diesel engines and complete drive systems. The product range is the most comprehensive and advanced in the sector.
