Controlling special transports in the steel industry:

SyncroTESS upgrade at ThyssenKrupp MillServices & System successfully in operation

ThyssenKrupp MillServices & System GmbH (the successor to the DSU Gesellschaft für Dienstleistungen und Umwelttechnik) is a highly competent technical service provider in the metal producing and processing industry. The portfolio ranges from slag management, internal logistics, production support and maintenance through to packaging and project work.

ThyssenKrupp MillServices & System has been using the transport management system SyncroTESS in Duisburg Huckingen since 2000 to control its transport (troughs, heavy loads, car pool). The system was updated to the latest version 9.0 this year and expanded to include transports of bulk goods as well as the control of wheel loaders.

The transport of large quantities of bulk materials by truck has been reorganised in the system. Once a "large order" has been entered, SyncroTESS automatically organises the single journeys on the site. The system also takes into account the loading of trucks by wheel loaders. The wheel loaders used have a shovel with integrated scales. The wheel loader scales are controlled by SyncroTESS via the terminal devices so that precise information on the amounts of bulk material loaded is available in the system and can be settled accordingly.

The transport of troughs, the „classic“ waste containers, has been fully automated. The troughs and pollutant loads are tracked via a separate interface to ThyssenKrupp MillServices & System's own data information system (DIS).

Other valuable system improvements include the conversion of communication from narrow band to GPRS and the tracking and visualisation of vehicles via GPS.
