Since April this year INFORM’s software SyncroTESS has helped organise transport of patients and supplies at Friedrich-Ebert hospital in Neumünster (FEK). This has been the management’s reaction mainly to constantly increasing numbers of patient transport jobs over the last few years, which have led to a greater workload for all departments. Particularly the central transport service was working to its full capacity.
„Our requirement with the installation of the software was to lower waiting times and so to increase the satisfaction of our patients. With 96% on average orders arriving on time, we have achieved this goal“, Nicole Giese, central transport service project manager and nursing service manager, weighs up the early days of the system.
With SyncoTESS, right from the very first hour, there are no more delays in transport of patients. Communication between the fully automatic control centre and the employees in the transport service is carried out over a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Every porter has a BlackBerry Smartphone, via which he communicates with the system using a simple and quick screen oriented dialogue (on a question-answer basis). All departments in the hospital are more than happy with the optimisation of the transport processes. „I am very pleased with the positive reports on the user-friendliness and of course how happy my colleagues are in their work“, continues Giese.
Prior to the installation of SyncroTESS, despite having the same number of staff, the hospital counterbalanced the excess transports thanks to optimal scheduling. The further increasing transport rates showed the hospital management that without a process change they could not be coped in the next few years.
The project and the implementation of the software succeed without delay thanks to the excellent cooperation of all of the affected areas of the hospital – nursing, data processing and transport services.
