KTL Kombi-Terminal Ludwigshafen GmbH operates a logistics plant for BASF SE in Ludwigshafen. The associates are BASF, the freight forwarders Bertschi and Hoyer as well as the combined road/rail transport operators HUPAC and Kombiverkehr.
The logistics company offers the following services:
Four ultramodern gantry cranes take care of combined transport handling. With a handling capacity of around 420,000 TEU in 2007, KTL is one of Europe's biggest combined transport inland terminals.
The constant growth in turnover numbers and wish to ensure that customers receive the services they need led to an increasing workload on personnel, particularly the crane operators. Since the company is currently only supported by DP systems in certain areas such as order management and trucking for its own fleet of trucks, the management at KTL has been on the lookout for efficient and innovative terminal management software for many years that can support all workflows of KTL. A tender was put out for the development of the Advanced Combined Transport Terminal Management System (ACTT) in 2006.
INFORM asserted itself in the face of some tough competition and is developing an integrated IT solution for the support and optimisation of the entire process organisation together with KTL on the basis of SyncroTESS. The primary goals of the introduction of ACTT are not just to improve productivity and relieve the strain on personnel, but above all to optimise the utilisation of the rail infrastructure and fleet of vehicles and to shorten the truck throughput time in the terminal.
