INFORM was able to supply the trial version of the transport management system SyncroTESS to the Hermes Logistics Group (HLG) in Friedewald, Hesse, only five months after commissioning. HLG will put the new system into operation in its new central greenfield transshipment base (HUB) in January 2009. SyncroTESS will control all transports within the HUB.
The system has already proven itself at the HLG site in Hückelhoven in 2008. Apart from the yard management, SyncroTESS will also control the use of the fork lifts that load and unload the swap trailers (WAB) in the hall in Friedewald. Another special feature is that parking spaces in the WAB are used in several rows at the 18,000 m² HUB in Friedewald, so that there may be up to three swap trailers in a row. SyncroTESS's optimization will in future help to process up to 20,000 shipments per hour and allow HLG to successfully expand its network of branch offices.
