Hermes Logistics Group entrusts SyncroTESS with its second main handling base

The Hermes Logistics Group (HLG) successfully commissioned the HUB in Hückelhoven at the beginning of this year. Since then, the SyncroTESS software has been optimising the yard management and the logistical cooperation of hall and yard staff. Following this positive experience with INFORM, HLG has now ordered SyncroTESS for its new main handling base in Friedewald, Hessen. An around 18,000 m² sorting centre will go into operation there in January 2009 which can handle over 20,000 parcels every hour.

SyncroTESS has been controlling the yard management in the almost 12,000 m² distribution centre of the West HUB of HLG in Hückelhoven since this spring. Apart from scheduling of so-called short-trip vehicles, the software also optimises the control of incoming and outgoing trucks as well as the management of storing positions. SyncroTESS manages up to 300 truck deliveries and collections every day as well as a total of up to 1,600 transport orders, thus optimizing the trans-shipment of parcels and packages. Besides other large customers, the services provided by Hermes are also used - by Hermes' most important customer in Hückelhoven, QVC. The distribution centre of the teleshopping market leader has a direct link to the main handling centre via a conveyor bridge.
