INFORM receives elog@istics Award 2008
The SyncroTESS solution for the finished vehicle logistics of car manufacturers has convinced the jury that it is the best logistics solution in the automotive industry
The Aachen system house INFORM has received one of the most prestigious awards for innovative solutions in automotive logistics. The software product SyncroTESS in the special version to control finished vehicle logistics has received the elog@istics Award. The expert jury chose the system to optimise vehicle distribution used by the Volkswagen Group in Mexico under the name Vehicle Distribution Network as the most innovative practical solution in 2008.
Aachen, March 2008 – "We are delighted with this award. After all, it is proof of the high quality of our software solutions in the field of automotive logistics“, says Udo Nießen, Logistics Systems Division Manager at INFORM. Together with Björn Beckmann, responsible for introducing the system at Volkswagen, he received the award from jury during the AKJ – Automotive Congress in Saarbrücken. The elog@istics Award honours concepts and solutions for logistics tasks that have proven themselves in practical application.
INFORM controls the storage, loading and shipping of 440,000 cars every year in the Puebla works in Mexico. The most effective transport planning possible is decisive here to ensure that every car reaches the right dealer in the right country at the right time. VW uses the SyncroTESS software in Puebla to control these transports. The system controls both the storage and loading of the cars and coordinates all transports for VW within Mexico. These include journeys to Mexican dealers as well as the transports to the port of Veracruz, from where the cars are shipped around the world. Around 1,500 cars leave the works every day by train or truck. "We wanted a transport management system that allows us to organise all transport processes within Mexico centrally, map these transparently in a system and thus also reduce the lead times“, explains Björn Beckmann, responsible for planning the logistics in Puebla. SyncroTESS is integrated in the VW system TOMCADS through an interface. SyncroTESS plans the individual route of every single car on the basis of the data from TOMCADS. The software compiles transport routes that guarantee an efficient and prompt delivery of all of the cars. "We have implemented our ideas for an integral and highly integrated approach in this new system. We can now carry out an integral optimisation and thus use all of the resources involved in the process more efficiently“, continues Beckmann. |
