Intelligent Control with TERMINALSTAR
At TOC Europe 2006 INFORM and HPC presented the new IT Strategy for Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB)

At TOC Europe 2006 in Hamburg INFORM showed how transshipment of goods is controlled at Hamburg Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) by the use of intelligent software.

Udo Nießen, INFORM GmbH and Sven Daniels, HPC GmbH explained in their well attended lecture "The intelligence behind: CTB's IT approach" the vital role of the TERMINALSTAR system for the reconstruction of CTB. They demonstrated how the software intelligently controls the entire network of goods transshipment. The project poses a challenge for every party involved as control components of the existing terminal software will be replaced by TERMINALSTAR modules while the container terminal will continue operating at full swing. „What we do is virtually open heart surgery“, says Udo Nießen.

The conversion of CTB from a straddle carrier terminal to a combined straddle carrier/RMG terminal was one of the main conference topics. The terminal reconstruction aims at doubling the waterside capacity.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of TOC Europe numerous experts from the international transport and logistics business met in Hamburg where they discussed current terminal management issues.

The presentation of the TERMINALSTAR-Software met with a positive response among the conferees. That is why INFORM and HPC will also attend TOC Europe 2007 in Istanbul. We are looking forward to seeing you in Istanbul!
