On-time delivery of goods at DaimlerChrysler AG, SindelfingenAt its largest plant in Sindelfingen DaimlerChrysler AG manufactures various product lines comprising the C-Class, the E-Class as well as the S-Class and the Maybach. More than 2100 cars leave the plant every day. The production cycle as well as the large number of different car types demand a lot of the material deliveries' logistics: the right parts have to be delivered to the right places precisely at the time they are needed there. That is why the Transport Optimization System SyncroTESS which has been controlling the in-plant transport in Sindelfingen since 2001, now has been extended by the SyncroSupply system for the control of the trucks for material delivery. Using the information provided by the goods receipt system which is connected
to the SyncroSupply system via interface, SyncroSupply gives priority
to trucks transporting urgently needed material. Since the SyncroSupply system has been implemented, trucks have no longer been queuing up at the plant's loading points. The delivery of material to the production is controlled fully automatically via buffer places to the loading points, and capacities of parking areas as well as loading points and production's needs are considered simultaneously. SyncroSupply thus shortens waiting periods for trucks, increases the utilization of in-plant resources (loading points, fork lift trucks, parking areas, ) and finally assures the supply for the production. |
