SyncroTESS Extension and Renewal with Heidelberg
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, the leading global provider of Print media for commercial and industrial users, continues to favor the features and abilities of the SyncroTESS system which has been in use at Heidelberg for 10 years. At present the SyncroTESS system which was installed at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG in the mid nineties is being converted to its newest version. A first phase of conversion concerning 12 vehicles has already been successfully completed. By the end of this year 30 fork lift trucks, 8 tractors and a total of 35 tractor trailers will be controlled by SyncroTESS. With the new system, optimization is not – as it was previously – only effected for the tractors but also for the fork lift trucks in production halls. The new implementation had become necessary due to internal restructuring measures and because the used radio data technology had become obsolete.
A special feature of the new system is the realization of the principle of "distributing trips": In the central warehouse small parts for the production are put into transport units. These units are then transported into the halls. For the realization of this transport SyncroTESS automatically activates so-called distributing trips. Small boxes are thus directly delivered to the production line. The position of each box is graphically displayed by SyncroTESS so that also the driver knows the position of the transported goods in the transport units.
In addition to the newest INFORM-technology modern radio data technology is used with a wireless LAN radio data system of Psion Teklogix.
